COMMON EFFLUENT TREATENT PLANTS (CETPs) OF GUJARAT
Common Effluent Treatment Plant (CETP) treats effluents by means of a collective effort mainly for a cluster of small scale industrial units at reasonable cost. Waste water of individual industries often contains significant concentration of pollutants; and to reduce them by individual treatment up to the desired concentration, become techno - economically difficult – CETP is better and economical option. To overcome the issue of inadequate treatment of waste water, the concept of CETPs were introduced in early 1990s.
Gujarat is not only a leading State for industrial development but also having total hydraulic capacity of approximately 767MLD of 35 operational CETPs serving approximately 6483 individual units.
Gujarat Pollution Control Board has recently assessed the requirement of CETPs in terms of augmentation of existing as well as new CETPs. Almost 09 operational CETPs are under planning of augmenting their existing capacity and 10 new CETPs across the State are planning to come with approx. 288.3 MLD capacity in addition to existing capacity of 767MLD.
